Patrick MacDonald | President
Patrick leads VersaPay’s national sales and account management teams as well as merchant sales support team. Patrick has significant experience in the merchant services industry as he comes from one of Frisco ATM’s largest sales and distribution arms in Quebec. Prior to the payments industry, Patrick founded and operated one of Canada’s most successful marketing companies who created sales and marketing strategies focused on the travel industry, trade associations and third-party vendor partnerships.
Patrick is very active within the community where he coaches youth soccer and is a consultant to the Concordia University men’s hockey team. While being a hands on team player, Patrick believes that the most important factor in the success of any size company is its people and the support they are given. It is this philosophy that has proven to be the key in Patrick’s successful business model, and one that he is committed to see continue within the frame work of this organization.
Michael Gokturk | Chief Executive Officer
One of the original founders of VersaPay, Michael is responsible for developing, integrating and maintaining the strategic goals of the Company. He is further responsible for establishing and nurturing new and existing business partnerships and relationships. Michael also oversees the finance department, specifically with respect to capital allocation and implementation, identifying resource requirements as well as identifying potential M&A opportunities.
Prior to VersaPay, Michael worked with PI Financial Corp in Corporate Finance as well as Retail Investments. Michael has acted as lead advisor to a number of start-up and emerging companies, each with diverse business models and management. He also brings his personal entrepreneurial experience of having successfully launched a multinational trade brokerage firm and a leading and innovative e-commerce retailer that became the model for its kind. Michael volunteers his time by advising a number of start-up companies in British Columbia and is very active in the local community, proudly serving on the Board of Directors of the Children’s Wish Foundation, amongst others.
Kevin Short | Chief Technology Officer, EVP
With a strong history in security and technology, Kevin has been involved in designing, securing and implementing banking infrastructure for Canada's leading financial institutions for over 13 years. Kevin maintains and oversees all technology-centric aspects of VersaPay including the VersaCard Payment Platform. Prior to co-founding VersaPay, Kevin Short was a Senior Security Architect at Bell Canada, working in the capacity of top advisor to Bell clients - Canada's leading financial institutions for banking systems and the principle security architect for the Vancouver 2010 Olympics. In his career Kevin has worked in a senior capacity for Sun Microsystems, Nortel Networks, TELUS, Enbridge, Bell and TransCanada amongst others.
Adam Sedgwick | Director of Finance
Adam is a Chartered Accountant who was previously
with KPMG as a senior auditor and manager. Adam has advised
some of Canada’s largest accounts and was responsible
for ensuring consistent business flow to his team. Adam is
responsible for the daily comptrollership and reconciliation
of all accounts within the VersaPay organization.
Jeff Sheremeta |
General Counsel
Jeff Sheremeta acts as VersaPay's General Counsel
and Investment Officer. Prior to VersaPay, Jeff's practice
focused on the acquisition, reorganization and financing of
public and private companies, including reverse takeover transactions
involving both Canadian and U.S. exchange-listed companies
in a variety of industries including technology, and industrial
issuers.
Jeff received his MBA from Queen’s University and his
Bachelor of Laws from the University of British Columbia in
May 1997. Jeff was called to the British Columbia Bar
in June of 1998. He originally received his Bachelor
of Commerce from the University of Alberta and finished the
Canadian Securities Course.
